Menu Planning
TAKE TIME to plan a menu! Although I am not 100% faithful to my menu, my menu has saved me quite a bit of time in my week. I like to plan my menu on word in chart form. I have breakfast, lunch, and dinner planned. Each week I only alter one or two things under breakfast and lunch and then change up all of the dinners. I like to alternate my chicken nights with my beef, my rice with my noodles and potatoes, and I often throw in a soup night. Each week I copy and paste the chart from the week before so I don’t spend hardly anytime with the details. Also that allows me to view the weeks before so I can steal dinner ideas. Another common menu practice I have involves the phone and some favorite recipe blogs. I often call my sister and have her read her weekly menu to me. My favorite recipe blog, which I frequent the most, is www.sweetpeasrecipes.blogspot.com. I have to admit that my time in the grocery store is MUCH less time consuming if I have my list in hand off of my menu!
Oh and of course I am including my not very exciting menu for this week! For some reason it won’t let me paste my entire menu so here is my menu in non-chart form! Slashes differentiate between meals.
Sunday: german pancakes/roast/leftovers
Monday: cereal, hard-boiled eggs/grilled cheese, tomato soup/crockpot italian chicken and pasta, sweet potatoes
Tuesday: chocolate banana muffins/macaroni, peaches/baked potatoes and topper, chili
Wednesday:toast and eggs/burritos, apple/chicken divan (2-freeze one)
Thursday: oatmeal/PB&J, applesauce/beef pot pie
Friday: french toast/alfredo pasta side, chicken nuggets, pears/spaghetti
Saturday: pancakes/sandwiches, oranges/salsa chicken, rice, tortillas
Those chocolate banana muffins turned out more like cupcakes (I should have known by the chocolate) but they still made a fabulous breakfast. Anything that my little angel girl eats without a fight is an instant hit in my book!
Excuse me?! You plan BREAKFAST too!? What a woman!
