Read to Yourself!
Last week I suggested that we “take time” to read to our children. Well, this week week I thought I would discuss how wonderful reading to yourself can be. If reading if something you enjoy then take time to do it!! I love to read but I know it interferes with my kids’ time! For this reason I didn’t read a book for over six months (which is abnormal for a book junkie like myself). Then my mother mailed me some books with strict instructions to read quickly and then send back. I took an afternoon off one day and just indulged myself. By dinner time I felt so REFRESHED! I am not even kidding. Of course it took a little coercion from my husband to get me to put the book down come bed time… I honestly felt like I had left the house for the afternoon! What an escape. It was then that I decided I was posting on taking time to read to yourself! Read to your kids and then take a little me time. My daughter even pulled out more books then normal to read while I was reading just because she wanted to do what I was doing. It was really nice sitting on the couch reading our OWN books!
I am a member of Goodreads! LOVE it! It is a great way to discover good books and find out what your friends are reading at the same time.
Books I recommend…
1. The Highwayman of Tanglewood/ Marcia Lynn McClure
2. The Great Divorce/ C.S. Lewis
3. Timepiece/ Richard Paul Evans
I am going to schedule myself some more book time so hopefully I can have more books to add to this list soon!
